Water/Wastewater Principal Engineer and Project Manager

Grant Engineering & Construction Group, LLC is seeking a highly talented and motivated individual to join our team as a Water/Wastewater Engineer and Project Manager. This position reports to the Design Project Manager and is responsible for wastewater engineering and construction management tasks. Women and Minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.

General Experience/Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities.

  • Must be willing to learn and embrace technology. Must be proficient in computers, including proficiency in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • The candidate must possess a strong work ethic, positive attitude, ability to organize and prioritize in a fast pace environment, ability to independently execute without constant management, strong teamwork capability, and a willingness to learn and execute in short timeframes.
  • Proficient technical skills in municipal water and wastewater treatment, collection and distribution systems. Design and management of projects involving wastewater treatment plant design, wastewate conveyance systems (gravity & force mains), pump station design
  • Able to prepare bid documents including final plans, specifications and cost estimates

Technical Experience/Qualifications

  • Design – Water and Wastewater Systems: At least five (5) years experience in water and/or wastewater treatment process design.
  • Design – Hydrologic and Hydraulic Systems: Able to perform hydraulic modeling for stormwater detention system design and sewer design for storm, sanitary, and combined sewer systems.
  • Permitting: Ability to prepare stormwater, drinking water, and clean water permit documents for Local, County, and

State agencies. Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills are a must for this requirement.

  • Technical Report Preparation: Ability to prepare technical documents and analyses for permitting, engineering reviews by third parties, to show compliance with regulations and design standards. Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills are a must for this requirement.
  • CADD: At least three (3) months experience with Autodesk Civil 3D 2014 or later. Candidate must have some CADD experience with:
    • Determination of drainage areas
    • Grading review and preliminary contour analysis Ability to prepare detention system layout
  • Project Management: Ability to manage design projects, and provide design support during construction. Must be a
  • Able to manage quality control and supervise multiple contractors and/or junior design and construction management staff on concurrent projects
  • CADD: At least three (3) months experience with Autodesk Civil 3D 2014 or later. Candidate must have some experience with:
    • Importing survey points and creating surfaces.
    • Creating roadway and utility profiles.
    • Importing and Exporting between CADD and GIS
    • Reading and interpret survey field notes, utilizing same to prepare surveys and site plans. Site plans will include; building placement, grading, utilities, storm sewers, roadways, easements, access drives, parking and so on in accordance with local zoning standards and internal company drafting standards.
  • Design – Stormwater Modeling and Design: At least six (3) months experience with hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for stormwater detention and drainage design. Experience can include academic experience/coursework.
  • Project Specifications: Ability to prepare technical specifications for projects where required based on State Specifications standards and/or Masterformat specifications standards.

Minimum Education and Licenses

  • New York and/or New Jersey Professional Engineering License preferred.
  • Bachelor or Science degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering required. Master of Science (MS) a plus.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $105,000 to $125,000.

Education, Experience, and Licensure.

Location(s)

  • Office is based in Newark, New Jersey. Hybrid work possible. Weekly office attendance required for collaboration. Candidate will be required to provide engineering service for projects in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and US Virgin Islands.
  • Site visits for meetings with Clients, design data acquisition, and construction observation will be required. Candidate may be stationed for some time at either a water or wastewater treatment facility as required by Client.
